In this logbook, all the relevant information regarding the evolution of Amplea is written. This contains small weekly reports, the agenda of each meeting and a small summary of each meeting.
The week started with a welcome presentation of the European Project Semester and the project groups were formed. Each group had to make a top three out of the list of projects. We also started on 'Communication' and 'Teambuilding' where we had to do some exercises to get to know each other.
This week, we had a Design Thinking class that focused on developing our project ideas. The class was an interactive session that allowed us to work in our Team and we came up with three project ideas based on the given theme “smartification of an everyday object”. The group exercise was informative and helped us to think creatively and come up with innovative ideas.
Following the class, we were tasked with presenting our ideas to the project coaches. This was a challenging yet, rewarding experience as we had to showcase our ideas in a clear and concise manner. The coaches provided constructive feedback that helped us to refine our ideas and identify areas for improvement.
In addition to the Design Thinking class, we also had a team-building activity in the park. This was a great opportunity to bond with our team members and get to know each other better outside of work. We engaged in various team-building exercises that helped us to improve our communication skills and work more effectively as a team.
In the third week the Backlog, Global and Initial Sprint Plan and the Gantt Chart were made for the project, as well as a product scope. In the marketing course, the goal was to make an elevator pitch to give a clear view of the ideas for the product. At the end of the week the smart features were discussed and possible prototypes were made.
This fourth week had important milestones for the project. In this week we all designed our own idea for the product. Together with the finished State of the Art and the designs, we compared all the ideas of the features for our product and started on making the final designs. In the meantime the Blackbox was made. This was important to get a good insight of all the electronic features we want to put in our product.
This week the team made the final decisions for the components for the product and we started making the 3D prototypes. The materials for the final product were also discussed. By the end of the week marketing plan for the product was made as well as the final decisions on the logo, the productname and the leaflet.
This sixth week was dedicated to making the System Schematics and the Structural Drawings. These were very important to make a complete ideation of our AmpleSEAF. To make this more complete, the team also spend time making a cardboard model of the AmpleSEAF. In communication and marketing class, the team presented the marketing plan for the project. With some small adjustments, this maketing plan will be completed by next week.
In this week the team worked on optimizing the 3D model, the backlog, and the marketingplan. In particular the 3D model. The elevation of the desk as well as the extension of the table had to be improved. These improvements were done with the feedback that was given by the coaches in the meeting. By the end of the week the backlog and the marketingplan were done and all of the remaining tasks for the report were devided.
In the middle of this week, the deadlines for the interim report and interim presentation were scheduled. The team worked on these deadlines and made sure to complete the report as much as possible, so there would be a lot of feedback. Furthermore, the 3D model was rendered and defined in Solidworks.
This week, the team worked on two milestones: the List of Materials including local providers & price, including VAT and transportation, and a video of the 3D model. With the feedback of the interim presentation, the logo was changed to a more dynamic and ergonomic looking design. Finally, the team worked on improving the wiki report.
This week, the team continued to work on the feedback on the wiki, a design of the interfaces for the app was made, the logo was redesigned and a final tweak was made to the 3D model.
During the holidays, the team continued working on the 3D model/printing. The app is operational but the design part needs to be implement to be more ergonomic. The team also improved some part of the wiki and started the packaging work.
In week 12, team Amplea focussed on the packaging solution and the application. To start the making of the prototype, the model for the 3D printer was sent to the person responsible. In Communication and Marketing class, team Amplea did a presentation on the final marketing plan, final leaflet and the development within the project. Lastly, the team started on writing the paper.
During this week, the team finished the packaging part (except if there are comments). The overleaf was finished except for the tests and results and the conclusion. The application is in progress and almost done.
The team worked on building the prototype and writing the manual. Furthermore the wiki, leaflet and poster were completed.
In the first meeting we discussed all of the different topics for the project. We took our own preferences and our knowledge from our studies, and decided on a top 3 of topics that suited best for us.
The goal for the second meeting was to decide on one specific idea. Research was done on all ideas to look for already existing products. New options for the topic were also discussed.
We talked about all the points above. The main aim of the meeting was to get our idea validate by the coaches: they liked it. We presented all our first ideas and all the different issues we want to approach.
We need to brainstorm about the prototype: how it will work (manual, automatic), the kinematics diagram, choose the features to add and the materials/components we are going to choose.
We talked about how project have been evolving and what can we improve in our design, as the coaches said solutions to problems that can have the user in the moment of using our product.
The coaches saw our evolution and critised some features of or furniture like: the table should reuse some parts of the furniture, the blackbox must be checked, case of use must be checked and we need to bring the schematics for the electricity and the material provides with the price.
Within this meeting our 3D model of Amplea was discussed with the coaches. Their opinions, problems and solutions are going to be taken in account while we will work on our final model. In the ending, the report as well as the upcoming interim presentation were talked through.
In this meeting the interim presentation was done. The coaches commented on our presentation and the way we presented it. Also, feedback was given by all the coaches regarding the interim report.
During the minute of reunion, the team discussed various topics. They went through the material list, ensuring that all necessary resources were accounted for and available. They excitedly shared a 3D model video, showcasing the progress made and discussed plans for 3D printing prototypes. Additionally, they brainstormed ideas for improving the project's wiki and eagerly sought feedback from one another to enhance its quality.
The new logo was disguised, changes about the report were explained, and the app design was shown.
In the meeting the team and the coaches discussed the materials for the prototype. Furthermore the model for the 3D printing was presented, as well as the progress of the app and the idea of the packaging.
The team and the coaches talked about the progress on the prototype and discussed the proposed packaging solution. Furthermore, the progress and feedback on the paper were discussed.
The team and the teachers talked about the overleaf and how to structure it. The stress analysis was not mentioned because Jorge was not there. The App works and was shown with all its functions.
The team showed the coaches the 3D printing and showed the leaflet and poster. The coaches made comments on the leaflet and poster which will be worked on in the next week. The different types of manuals were discussed and questions about the electrical parts were talked about.
In this last meeting the team asked the final questions for the project regarding the electric parts, the manual, the final video and what will be expected of the final presentation. The coaches helped by making everything clear so the team can finish the project successfully.
